Light Installations

In these installations I attempt to create a “place of escape” where light and the absence of light play crucial roles. The absence of light evokes the idea of erasing; it peels away information and structure. With the light I mean to push the “black”, empty space back a little, just a little. In doing so I seek to create an environment or a scene that in it’s smallness expands psychologically. I am compelled to find and create materials that are not always thought of as the most appropriate for sculpture and construction, such as plastic bags, papers of various sorts, glues and food products. The materials are chosen to emphasize the feeling and idea of fragility.
